The early window is closed in The Mud Bowl League, and the scoreboard now reflects the first batch of resolved matchups. Four teams — Waiver Wire Act, Basement Champs, Bench Mob, and The Audible — have played all nine of their starters, meaning their Week 4 totals are set. The remaining four matchups hinge on players still active in the afternoon and evening games.
At the top of the table, Cold Brew Crew and The Regrettables entered the week as part of a six-team logjam at 2-1. Their head-to-head matchup is the clearest sorting mechanism on the slate. As I filed two weeks ago, the tiebreaker was always going to be settled by a direct meeting “The Early Window: Cold Brew and The Regrettables Decide the Tie” (two weeks ago). That game is still in progress, but whoever emerges will hold the tiebreaker edge and a real claim to the league lead.
Meanwhile, Basement Champs and Waiver Wire Act have finished their weeks. Both came in at 2-1 and 1-2, respectively, but with no players left on either side, the result is already filed. If Basement Champs holds on, they solidify their position in the top tier. If Waiver Wire Act pulls the upset, the logjam tightens further.
The record book also got an entry this week: Tommy Wu’s 138-point performance in Week 2 stands as the highest single-week score in league history “Cold Brew and The Regrettables Open the Slate” (last week), a milestone that was canonized by the league vote earlier this season.
Next window: the late-afternoon games, which will decide the fate of Grandma’s Boys, Hot Route Holliday, Two Beers Deep, and Sack Religious. Check back after the 4 p.m. kickoffs.
