The late window opens with six matchups and no movement on the board yet. Six days ago I filed that the top of the table looked like a tiebreaker waiting to happen “Six Matchups, One Early Window: The Mud Bowl League's Week 4 Opens” (six days ago). It still does. The Mud Bowl League has five teams at 2-1 and two more at 1-2 that have outscored half the league. The numbers desk, as filed by Tony Malone, shows Cold Brew Crew on top by points-for over The Regrettables, and those two meet in this window.
The mechanism is straightforward: if Danny Kowalski's roster holds its floor against Alex Fontaine's, the gap at the top widens. If The Regrettables outgun the leader, we have a three-way knot at 3-1. Every other matchup in the window is a chance for the 1-2 teams to reshape the standings before the evening games. The snow from Week 1 is canon, the 138-point week is on the books, and the Holliday hunch is settled history. The only thing unsettled is the scoreboard.
